FI'm trying to finish my first build in.. .well forever. I have the following setup:
Coolermaster Storm trooper Full Tower Case
ASUS p8Z68 Pro Gen 3 motherboard
2500k cpu
Phanteks PH-TC14PE heatsink
G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Crucial 64GB SSD
Two Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB drives
ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD drive
XARMOR Wireless Keyboard
Deathadder wired mouse
Corsair TX850 PSU

I have no video card yet, but thought the onboard HD3000 would get me started.

I have it connected via HDMI to an HDTV.

When I power it on, the fans spin up, the post lights start lighting up, then it beeps once (normal I think). Then about 5 or so seconds later it beeps four times beep beep (close together) then a quick pause then beep beep (close together like the first set). The boot device LED stays lit, and the bios never shows on the tv screen. The four beeps are a different tone than the solo beep.

I have the ssd in the 2.5 inch cage (which is mounted as a stand alone on the bottom of the cage between the psu and the lowest hard drive cage) at the bottom of the case (couldn't get the sata cable connected when it was in the hard drive cage). It and one of the hard drives are connected to the gray sata 6gb connector with sata 6 cables. The other hard drive and the dvd drive are connected to the sata 3gb (first sky blue connector) via sata 3 cables.

Any ideas?

Edit to Add:
Forgot to mention, I've already attempted resetting the CMOS via moving the jumper at CLRTC

4 beeps is component failure. That's what the boot device led is telling you. Eliminate all but one drive and try again. If no joy, try a different drive.

I read Anthony817's thread on no monitor signal, and followed virtual Larry's advice there, I connected to my hdtv via a vga cable. Sure enough, the signal isn't being carried via hdmi.

So now my question is:
Is there any way via bios or windows setting (win7 64 bit extreme) to force hdmi vs. vga?

I have a suggestion, I think we may be experience problems with our ram on AMD machines. A post I made over at the MSI forums exactly like my thread here, but it was suggested that my Gskill Ripsaw ram might be the culprit, cause I only get 2 beeps after the ram is removed, no post beep, just beeps indicating memory is removed.

Here is what I just read on the page I bought my ram from.

Pros: it looks pretty,

Cons: cannot install 2 of these kits into an ASUS 990FX sabertooth, when i did all I got was BSODs, and even with one kit installed I would get memory errors, or sometimes not all 8gigs would be recognized,
I have RMAed back all the memory and still the same, when I RMAed i even bought a bigger power supply thinking that maybe an issue, still bluescreen

Other Thoughts: I this is not the only motherboard I have had issues with this memory on, I am thinking that gskill, has some major issues with their memory, after reading forums and talking to tech support from Motherboard manufacturers that a lot of people have issue with them on AMD boards.

So far, its been only 72 hours, my new pc is performing well. I have just been out of the game for too long (been using the same dell inspiron E1505 laptop since 2004). I have an intel setup, so I'm not sure if the amd issues you are indicating apply to me. I have 8 gb of the gskill 1.25v ram, and it is recognized in windows.

I just want to know if there is a way to force the video signal to transmit via hdmi cable and not on the vga cable. There has to be a way, because Asus supplies a hdmi port on the rear I/O panel of the motherboard.....

Once I have a video card, it won't be an issue. However, I want a 680 and since inventory is low, I'm anticipating 3+ months before I can get that final component. I'm very very patient though. I planned this build for 18+ months before I executed the purchasing.

Look on your monitor setting for HDMI--AV. and change it to HDMI

I don't have a monitor, I'm using a 60 inch Sharp LED. From what little I've been able to find, ASUS and Intel HD drivers don't play nice together. I have the bios set to IGP, but no option anywhere to actually select output channel (hdmi vs vga).
