First step take the Mobo out of the case leave on it only CPU, Mem, and Video.

Connect a power supply, and see if it posts.

If it does not post you have to try a known to work, CPU, Mem, Video, until you find out which one is the culprit.

Do you have a speaker connected to it? Cases don't always come with speakers these days.

I don't think there's any reason to suspect it wouldn't work since it should have been pretty safe inside the case.

The first step is to double-check every single connection. Every last one, even if you've already checked. Then, as Jack said, there's not much to do besides test each part individually against a known-good one.

This is neither here nor there, but I think you could've done a bit better job picking components in certain places. If the issue does turn out to be your CPU I would return it for an E8400 rather than getting another E6850 if you can. A 700W power supply is also considerably more than you need for that setup.

i tried a different stick of ram and it works went back and tried mine one stick at a time one would go to splash screen and stop the other would not do anything. could memory voltage matter at all. doesn't the ocz need 2.1 v.

Should i just rma my memory because i don't think i can return it to frys.com without the upc.

Yes memory voltage could stop you from POSTing. Put the other RAM in, go into the BIOS and adjust the memory settings to whatever the OCZ kit requires, and then try it with your OCZ again.

In the future, I'd just buy 1.8V RAM to avoid the headache.

Clean and reseat your CPU. Use a Q-tip and alcohol on the contact side of the CPU, just dob the ZIF socket pins or the mushroomed pins will snag the cotton. Lights, fans, no video, no BEEPS, usually mean bad contacts between CPU and socket. Had this problem with a Q6600 & intel dg33 MB build.
