New build - unable to POST

Corsair RX750 power supply

Green power LED light turns on.

When power switch is pushed or pins shorted, cpu fan (and case fan connected to the power supply in a test) briefly power up and then stop immediately.

CPU, memory and VGA led never turns on.

No beeps from the speaker.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Michael

You plugged in both the power 24-pin and CPU 8-pin (2 x 4 pin) connectors?

Depending on how many sticks of ram you have, only use one stick and try it in all slots.

Short somewhere or missing power connection, most likely.

In addition to what has been mentioned:
-make sure all standoffs have screws in them
-make sure there is power to the video card connection, if so equipped
-make sure there is a fan connected to the CPU fan power connector
-start with minimal connections (no drives, one stick of RAM, no USB) and go up from there once you get a POST.

Went through the trouble shooting. Tried a different MB. Nothing. Tried a different power supply and it worked first try.

Updating the bios now.

What Corsair PSU did you have that was the problem? CX or RMx line?

If it was the CX line, it was built by Channel Well, and they don't score very well at JonnyGuru (bad soldering work and overall build quality).

Glad you go it figured out though.

The links and advice were very helpful as it let me eliminate build errors vs. hardware problems.

RM line. RM 750X.

Bought an Antec one and it booted first time.

I've been an Antec PSU fanboi a long time myself, even though I know they are made by others.

Just stopped in late on this thread I guess.

My Delta build in here on the main has been running a long time, and a few others.

Glad to hear it's up and running.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:
