First time build have had to learn a lot of things the spendy way....lol got a new MB and pentium chip that was Overclocked (P-4 2.6 that could go as high as 3.6)and had all the special heat sinks and fans etc. etc.. thought a simple thing to do to toss it and and goooo. But nope forgot to remove all the old MB info. from my H.D. so this it locked up.
I was then told to do a repair install of XP over the top that MIGHT fix it NOPE. so then in my infinite wisdom I told the wife "Hey my HD is too small(40gig)..LOL best to get a new one"(120 gig Seagate) thus knowing that would fix the issue with the fight of the new MB versus the old one. Did that all was well until I set the bio's to the O.C. parameters it had been tested and set up to run at, and down she went.
For now PS was too small (350)So then off to new tower land to replace my old PS and tower got the Raid Max X-1 with a 420 PS.So thats where I am at.
HERE ARE THE ISSUES : I have 2 issues taking place firstly I have the NOS program that comes with the ASUS MB to aide with OC and when I set the CPU frequency at where my MB had been tested at (160) that =3.6 mhz when it was built and tested might I add it crashes. If I back it down to (165) that = 3.3 mhz all is good. So I have left it there for now. BUT with all good in that area when I reboot or shut down it resets all the time and date in the bios and desktop. so these two issues I am scratching my head on. I again must aplogize for being a newbee to this, I have 2 120 MM fans ( front and back of case) 2 80mm on PS and a 80 on the side of the case and a very large fan (60mm) and heat sink on the chip ( 2 times the normal size looks like) i am running temps of 68F to 70F tops. Please I am open to any ideas and if you need more info just ask ...thank you for your space and time
