New build temps

I just finished building a new system.

A64 3200
ECS 755-AR mobo
Antec Sonata case with second 120mm fan (intake)
Zalman 7700 Al-CU
ATI Radeon 9600XT
1GB Crucial Value Select PC3200
2 MAxtor 160GB HD
1 WD 120 GB SATA HD
DVD Rom
NEC 3500AG DVD Burner

I did not feel as though the screw mounts for the Zalman created enough pressure. But, the temps seem ok.

Prime 95 @ 46 C

Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. The generally accepted load limit for A64s is about 55 Celsius.

Thanks for your thoughts. I know they can go higher, but I like to give plenty of buffer between where it is running and where it can go.

Maybe it's just a difference in case, etc., but my A64 3500 w/ Zalman 7700AlCu is idling around 27C. Installed in Antec SX1040, 2x 80mm intake fans, 2x 80mm exhaust fans, Antec Neopower 480 PS. I guess my overkill case ventilation setup is working. :)

The ECS 755-A2 already has a backing plat installed with studs that come up through the board. The combined length of the studs on the backing plate and the shorter posts that Zalman sent me is a little longer than the stock studs that come with the 7700.

So I might just pull the HSF off, remove the studs and shave them down a little so that the HSF applies a little more pressure to the CPU.

Or I might just decide the temps are ok they way they are and leave it.
