Is it possible to take my Win7 upgraded to 10 from my laptop (OEM software probably) and throw it in a new desktop build and not have to purchase a license? I'd probably format and boot safemode or something to the new PC and see how it works? Any thoughts? Thanks.

It probably will adapt and Partially work but it will not be Activated.

Win 10 Activation is Hardware dependent on the Original legit PC that the Upgrade was done on.

During the Legit Upgrade Microsoft stores some Hardware ID code on its activation server as well as software id code on your Win 10.

If Win 10 runs on a computer that does not show the original profile it does Not Activate.

Probably won't work. Either buy a new Windows 10 license or find a Windows 7 license you have lying around and use that and upgrade. You have until July 29.
