New build suggestions

3. USA. Newegg, Fry’s and/or Microcenter
4. Not a fanboy but I want an Intel build this time
5. KB/mouse

7. Default speeds
8. 1920x1200 or 1080
9. Within a month

Individual components:

CPU – Want a Core i5 as the i7 seems overkill for me

Ram – 4gb+

HDD – 1TB, WD Caviar black most likely. Is there a noticeable difference between the 32mb cache, 3Gb/s and 64mb cache, 6Gb/s versions?

MB – A basic i5 motherboard is fine, don’t need any extra features such as Crossfire/SLI

GPU – I have no clue what I should get. Haven’t followed GPUs in years

Case – Don’t need anything fancy, something black/generic is fine

Optical – Basic DVDRW drive

PSU – 500watt should be enough, correct?

OS – Win7 Home Premium

Monitor – 24” 1920x1200 or 1080. I prefer 16:10 over 16:9. Definitely don’t want to skimp on the monitor

Are there any combo deals going on right now? I read about a i5 CPU/mobo deal at Microcenter recently but couldn’t find it again.
