Tell me what you think of this build. I haven't bought the parts yet because I wanted to get some opinions first.

Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 XL 256MB GDDR3 OEM $349
Abit FATAL1TY AN8 NVIDIA NF4 Ultra RETAIL $209
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 939 RETAIL $155
pqi TURBO "Gunmetal Heatspreader" 1GB(512MB x 2) DDR PC-3200 RETAIL $156
Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive OEM $60
Lite-On 16X, DVD Dual Layer DVD+/-RW Black Drive RETAIL $67
Sub-Total: $996

ViewSonic G220fb 21" PerfectFlat CRT RETAIL $425
LOGISYS KB606BK BLACK Full-Size ILLUMINATED Keyboard RETAIL $28
Logitech Optical Mouse (Black) RETAIL $12
Sub-Total: $465

Black Logisys Dracula CS602BK Mid-tower
Logisys 500W Metal Meshed Power Supply, Red LED
120mm Red LED clear Antec front fan
Back Mounted 120mm clear fan
80mm clear LED side fan with grill on acrylic window
Sub-total: $105

System Total: $1566

I'll probably get flamed for that last one, let's just say the all of the latest models of the Dracula case have the sword design instead of an alien head on the front panel, this one is solid black as well, it's not the "special edition". And I like it. I modded my last case myself and don't really care to do it this time. I'm going with a black and red color scheme if you couldn't tell. The Fatality has a red pcb and leds on it as well as additional cooling.

So anything you would do different? I'll be using the Fatality audio and basic 2.1 speaker set-up for now.

get a cheaper mobo and upgrade the cpu to a 3200plus

Take a look at the DFI lanparty I know you problably don't want sli, but it uses the ultra chipset and has the ability to do x16 and x2 as an added bonus

Can't I just OC the 3000 to 3200 speeds?

All the prices are from Newegg, I'll probably buy the Radeon and mobo last. I think the Radeon and the Fatality might come down in price a little. The Fatality just started selling in the last few days. I don't really want to bother with SLI. If I could find the Fatality for the same price as an SLI board I would definitely buy the Fatality. That's one sexy mobo.

The CPU should be fine... You can get a DFI nf4 ultra for around $160 and it is one of the best boards around. I have not seen anything about the abit, anyone care to enlighten me why it is so expensive?

Can anyone atest to the quality of logisys PSUs? I have not heard of them... It may be woth looking at a qualiy PSU.

its not a given but all your buying with the fatality is the name and a few useless extras. the primary feature set is the same on all nforce 4 ultra boards.

Link...
Fatal1ty

It does have a few more features. The cooling fans are worth the extra price alone. Besides the DFI is ugly and there's no performance benefit.

The PSU is pre-modded with a meshed metal cover, clear fans and red leds. I'm not sure who actually manufactures the supply itself. It is ATX 2.03 compatible though, has a 24-pin connector, sata, etc. I'm sure the 500watt rating is not a "Trurating" but it should be enough for what I'll be running.

Admittedy, it's over-priced because of the name associated with it. I'm hoping the price will come down since it just started selling. What's 60 bucks anyways when your spending $1500? I can live with that.

I'm sure the DFI and the Gigabyte are both good boards.

Just curious to see what some other people thought I guess. So far I've gotten some good suggestions. Just not one that would convince me to change anything. Thanks for the input, though. I'm not saying the Fatality board is better, just that I like it better.

Sure...

Logisys Dracula

It's one of those love it or hate it deals. Me I'm a sucker for vampire stuff so I love it. I'll be changing the PSU and the blue interior to red. Now imagine it with all those red LEDS and the red pcb.

LOL You figured me out. Actually I like the cooling options on that mobo as well. And the daughter card for onboard audio is cool. Of course the red leds are nice. It will be red when the lights aren't on too.

Hey leedog, he likes the FATAL1TY board ok. You don't like it, fine, but I saying that once is plenty. Not really needed 5 times man.

I think the setup is good, and yea you can OC that 3000+ to 3800+ speeds or more. If you are going for maxium OC, then the 3200+ gives you a 10X mulitplier.
I would look at a better mouse if you play FPS games, such as a MX510.
Also, only a 80GB HD? Too small for me.

no offense, but that is the ugliest case ever.

you could save some cash buy getting regular VALUE ram instead of that "gunmetal" stuff. (roughly $30) they are the same speed, you wont ever notice a difference.
