New build short circuiting my electricity.

Hey forum, I just bought a bunch of new parts, some new and some used from the forums.

I got a 2500k used
biostar tp67b+ new
ULTRA X-CONNECT 700W used
8gb ram from newegg new
gtx 570 cu2 used
120gb cosrair 3 ssd used
1tb HD used

and fatality sound card used.

So I just finished putting this thing together, I'm pretty sure I installed and mounted the cpu and heatsink correctly, I connected all the power cables.

So when I turn on the psu (not the pc, but the switch on the psu) my electricity short circuits.

So I'm not quite sure why. Two reasons come to my mind - 1. the gtx 570 has a 6pin+8pin power connectors, and I only have 6pin ones so I just put a 6pin in the 8pin one. Could that be the reason?

Secondly, My pc is standing on my desk at the moment. I know there's something called grounding? could that be the issue?

Anyway please help me!! 🙂 thanks

You mean your circuit breaker pop when you turn on the power supply switch?
If that is the case then your first problem is the power supply.
