New Build Reboots When I Go Into Games

I just built this new rig yesterday:

Asus PB5
Core 2 Duo E6300
2 GB DDR2 Corsair XMS
Sapphire X1950 XT 256MB

I have been using Windows XP for two days with no issues. However, I entered a game for the first time. The system seems to have serious issues when the video resolutions change. Within 2 minutes of entering the game, the system speaker started beeping. About one long beep every 3 seconds. After doing that 5 or 10 times... the monitor light turned orange and the system had to reboot.

I went in again. This time.. as soon as the resolution changed and before even entering the main game, the computer starts beeping again, and the monitor light goes orange.

Well, perhaps the issue was with this game? Turns out it's not. I went into my dxdiag.exe and ran the various Direct3D tests. Most tests worked fine, but when my computer went into the test that CHANGES resolutions, again, it beeped and rebooted.

I checked and the PCI-Express Power connector from the PSU is connected to the video card.

What could be wrong here?

Update. Got this error from the ATI driver:

"Your graphics adapter is running above a safe temperature. The clock frequency is now being reduced in order to low the temperature to a safe level. Check that the system fans are fully functional and that airflow is unobstructed."

The video card is not blocked by anything and I do not understand why it is heating up. It's not over clocked or anything.

Please advise.

If the graphics card is getting normal voltage and current, I would believe that there is a problem with the card itself. However, have you checked the settings for the card in the bios?

Update: The video card fan is not spinning. I'm just in Windows now. Is it supposed to spin at all times? Please advise what I should do.

What crap. I just realized the video card fan was NOT plugged into the video card. Shouldn't it be attached when you buy it? I'm a little ticked about that! I fixed it. Thanks guys.

Yeah, it should definitely be attached when you buy it. Who is that card from (Sapphire, Powercolor, etc.)?

I unplugged the fan on my FX5200 and it still works alright, but it's performance is just a little worse than your card.

Actually, it wasn't. Even at introduction, the FX5200 was about 1.5 generations behind "state-of-the-art". Its only reason for existence was that it was cheap.
