New Build Quick Questions

After having a new case sent to replace my defective case, I'm almost done 😀

Some quick questions:

1. I have several wires going to the front (hard drive, power, reset, etc...) Each one of these wires is colored different (blue / white, black white, red white). Is the white the + or - side? I was used to always having black be - ?

2. Does the hard drive disk light only work if you have IDE hard drives? I am hooking up one 200 Gb Seagate SATA drive

3. Are there any issues I should be aware of with only one SATA drive instead of IDE?

4. If I hookup an IDE drive later (to transfer data from the drive from my old system, will this mess things up?

Thank you!

James

At least info on the +/- of the wires coming from the power button, reset button, etc... Are the white wire positive or negative?

Hi James,

I'm guessing it's hard to say, which is why so few responses. Maybe depends somewhat on the case manufacturer, since as I understand it these are case wires.

Try looking at the sides of the small conectors, often I find a small "+" or "-" embossed on the plastic.

In my expereience, you can't hook up the power button wrong. Works both ways when I tried it last month (new case came w/o instructions etc and no markings could be found on plugs). I think same for reset button.

As far as LED indicators- if they don't work - just reverse the plug/connector. No problems
