I am working on my first build and have the components as listed inmy signature. I was told by someone to just check the MB by connecting it to the power supply and the monitor. So I did. I also added the processor... and the AGP card since there was no onboard video. I was hoping to see the BIOS info etc to flash on the screen. But nothing happened when I flipped the power switch. I wonder what went wrong. Am I missing something. Should I just put the system together in the case and then switch it on. Please advise.
Also please suggest if there is a good place to learn tips and techniques for building myh system... since I am a little anxious. Any help would be really appreciated.

 
Did you connect both the 24p and the 4p cable to the mobo? And you did use a heatsink and everything on the processor? And RAM was in, etc?
 
Take out everything but the mother board. Connect the 20pin and 4pin power connectors to the board. Power up and see if you get any beeps. Assuming that your speaker is hooked up correctly; if you don't get any beeps then your MB is no good!
 
OK, so that might be it. I only connected the 24 pin cable to the MOBO. I did not attach the 4 pin thing. Is there always 2 cables? I will do what u guys asked and report back later in the day. Thanks.
