Since your case supports standard ATX motherboards, there is no reason to go with a microATX board. If you're looking for an excellent board for the same price as the one you have currently, look into the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R. It's an nice board and you will find plenty of information about it on these forums. Depending on the amount of gaming and the kinds of games you will be playing, I highly recommend you step up to an 8800GTS 320mb or Radeon X1950XT at the very least. Also, if you intend on purchasing 4GB of RAM, I suggest you purchase 4GB instead of getting 2 and waiting to upgrade. From what I've been hearing on price trends for memory, DDR2 probably won't be getting drastically cheaper for awhile. Perhaps also consider an nice aftermarket cooler for your Quad if you intend on overclocking. People on these forums have good things to say about the Tuniq Tower 120 and Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme if you want to push your Quad to its limits on air. Personally, I suggest building on your own as a Quad core will last you a bit longer if you don't plan on upgrading until later. Anyways, good luck.

8600.

No No No No No No.

Get a single 8800GTS. Either version - preferably the 640 if you're going to be doing some moderate hardcore gaming.

At 1680*1050 there is no reason to go for the 640 edition. Look up some benchmarks and you will see there is virtually no performance gap between the two cards at this resolution. Save yourself some cash and go with 320.

Great suggestions... brought the price up but oh well... It'll last me 3 years. I added the 320 to the shopping cart btw...

Ah ha! Sorry. I didn't notice the monitor selection. Good call :)

Also, as another kind suggestion, I would ditch the current 20" LCD you have, which is a TN panel and go with something MUCH better for the same price...the Acer 20" AL2051W (same price w/o rebate):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...6824009105&Tpk=AL2051W

I've done a fair share of research regarding LCD's and this panel is probably the best you'll get for $200. It's true 8-bit P-MVA panel, which will give you richer colors than a standard 6-bit TN panel and the glossy screen helps to accent deeper blacks, etc... The input lag is a bit higher than standard TN, but as far as I know ghosting on this panel is a non-issue. It's supposed to be a fantastic panel. Furthermore, you're lucky that you're purchasing this now since this model is probably one of the few left. Acer has discontinued it due to high production costs. I plan on purchasing this monitor too in about two weeks with my new system build...provided they are still in stock. :( Maybe you could be nice and pick one up for me since I helped you out with your build. Of course, I would be willing to pay you for it + shipping and finders fee. ;)

Although Corsair makes very nice PSU's, I personally think you should get something a bit bigger to be safe. Try the Corsair 520HX:

http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A6200026

Buy it from clubit as it's much cheaper than this price listing on newegg. If you plan to do a fair share of upgrading and you don't mind shelling out a bit more for your system (PSU is important) get the 620HX from clubit or the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W...both very efficient and dependable PSU's.

Good call on that monitor. It has a 3yr warrenty vs. 1 yr too. Only problem is I wanted to upgrade to dual monitors soon, and didn't wanna purchase it with this one. Hmmm... So now I guess I'd have to buy both now to make sure I could get them. :(

I really appreciate your help with my build but I don't really feel comfortable doing that. :( Sorry.

I'm just going to purchase it all on newegg. I wanna get it all at the same time instead of waiting for one piece.

The build looks very good and similar to mine. ;) I'd go with it. Another thing is, I don't know if newegg is guaranteeing the G0 Q6600's...but clubit is. If I were you and plan to OC (you have the Tuniq so I'm guessing you will), purchase the PSU, Quad, and anything else you find cheaper on there in conjunction with your newegg purchase. And no problem with the LCD...I was only partially kidding. =P

I would have told you to order the power cable (and really most cables you need) from Monoprice. Monster cables are just overpriced. Then again, shipping from Monoprice starts at around $6-7 and goes up a little with each item, so unless you have 3 items or more to order it's not really worth it.

Oh, and Buy.com has the Corsair 520hx PSU for $89.99 after the rebate.

Eh... I wanted to buy it all from the same place. Not worth the hassle for dealing with different vendors.

Hey, no problem. For me though, part of the fun of building a PC is hunting for deals at different places and considering what to bundle with what to save on shipping. :)

Anandtech has a review on the difference between the two revisions and there is a slight difference but not that big of a deal unless you really want to squeeze every last bit of performance possible :p. I have the older revision and it's fine :).

I'm a bit curious why you chose a generic keyboard and no mouse?

I have a pretty new and expensive mouse. I like generic keyboards and my other keyboards ps2, I wanted to go USB w/ the keyboard. and I need no special features.
