New build problem ...

so i just finished putting together and installing everything for my new build, seems to be running pretty good

but now randomly the computer will lock up and freeze... the image will remain on the monitor and a steady beep or shriek will come from the speakers... any ideas ?

4gigs gskill ddr2 800
wd 640
gigabyte ga ep43 ds3l
corsair 650 powersupply

xigmatek 1294ee heatsink ... great temps - so i dont think it is overheating

Had similar problems in games till i updated the video card drivers.

Go online and get updated drivers. Then log in threw safe mode. Remove the old drivers then install the new ones.

Update all your drivers with the most recent available online and see if that clears it up.

hmmm i had got the newest ones from the nvidia site when i did the install ...

should i try the retail cd ? or possibly beta drivers?

i downloaded the beta drivers from nvidia and it is sill doing it ...

While mpilch only listed video drivers, that was his problem, do what Denithor suggested and re-install ALL your drivers with the most updated versions and make sure they're compatible with whatever OS you're running.
