New build problem. System just shuts down.

Hi all,

Just finished a build and trying to install windows. Havent gotten past the bios at any time yet so windows not close to being installed.

ECS 755
Sempron 3100
Cooler Master 380w (Only 16a on the 12v rail)
Now 4 different sticks of ram
Now 3 different video cards.
I checked for loose screws. All power connections are connected. Temps on cpu when I got into bios was 25c.

Gonna change ps now.


Starts for 10 seconds then shuts down. Tried numerous times. Got into the bios twice. Then shut down.

Tried 3 different memory sticks. 2 different video cards.

Any ideas?

did the problem start before or after xp install?

the cpu may be overheating. is the cpu fan spinning?

i would agree, if fan is spinning could ne a bad seat between the HS and proc, maybe reseat it with some good thermal past jsut to see if it changes, if not, try PSU next with known good.

Also list full specs, including the brand & model of power supply.
