Hello, building my second c2d system and running into a minor problem. specs are as follows

MSI p6n SLI
E4400
2x1 gb corsair XMS 800, 44412
evga 7600gt
antec 500basiq psu
seagate 320 sata
pioneer dvdr-112

I am using stock hsf, but took off stock thermal paste for some artic silver. When i turn it on, everything works, i get a green light inbetween the sli spots indicating its working, drive is spinning, dvd lights up, keyboard lights up. Front of case power lights up, everything is good to go but i am getting no display, and i am getting no post beeps. NONE. I have reconnected and tried reversing the "case speaker" cable and still nothing. It will just stay on for an unlimited amount of time, ie doesnt power back down

Please any help would be great.

Try disconnecting EVERYTHING from the mobo and psu except the following:

cpu/fan
case speaker (not pci speaker)
header pwr sw
Nothing else at all - not even just 'ah, that'll do' - completely disconnect, ok?

Do you get any beeps at all?

i did as you said, disconnected everything and still no beeps. nothing. just powers and stays on.

I have no tested the card, ram, and psu on my other rig and they all work. So i would have to assume its the board.

I have never had a DOA board before (built about 15 pc's) so i am sure i was due for one, but is it common for everything to light up on the board, and it just run idle? i always thought they wouldnt even power up at all.

I also reseated the processor, cleaned it up and re-apply thermal paste, still no beeps

Yes, it does seem to narrow it down to cpu/mobo.

Please let us know how it goes if you RMA.
