Ok, just got a new system.

Intel C2D 6750 with the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
Asus P5K-E WiFi Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 2x1GB sticks
EVGA 8800 GTS 320MB Video Card
Corsair 620 watt PS

So of course, I plug in everything first, make all the cabling nice, boot it up.....no boot.

So then I go into troubleshooting mode. I disconnect everything. Reset the CMOS jumper. Then I have the following plugged in:

CPU with HS
1 stick of the memory in DDR slot 1
Power supply connected to the 24 pin and 8 pin connectors
Video Card

Once the power cord goes into the PSU, I turn on the PSU. The MoBo Ready LED lights up just fine.

Then I power up. The system fires up, CPU Fan starts spinning, VGA fan starts spinning, and that's it.

No Video, No Sound, No Post. According to the Asus user guide, I should hear an error beeping noise from the PC Speaker if something goes wrong.

I don't hear anything and my PC speaker is hooked up just fine.

So then I take everything out of the case, and boot it up on a static mat. Same thing.

So at this point, I'm not even getting a sign of life, so I try to piss off the MoBo by not plugging in the extra power cord to the VGA card. Fire it up, and finally I get a loud pissed off beeping noise. At least I know somethings thinking in there.

So now I don't know what to do. Here is what I do know.

The power seems to fine and is going to the MoBo.
The CPU gets hot, which is a good thing.
The USB Keyboard and Mouse DO NOT light up.
When booting up the system with no memory, or no vga, I still don't get a beep. According to the Asus User guide, I should hear a beep for both of these cases.

What do you guys think? Bad Mobo, or am I missing something?

NOPE, not the answer!

WHat his problem most likely is......BIOS! Yes, for some very stupid reason, ASUS decided to ship product with a BIOS that did not support 1333 FSB. WOW how nice is that!

Your choice is to RMA back to ASUS, or get an older processor, and flash the BIOS yourself.

How do I flash a BIOS if I can't even get to Post? I don't even have video.

Anyways, I went to Fry's and picked up another one. This one actually appears to be a new revision (blue box instead of black, and one higher on the product mfg number)

I'll see tonight when I get home from work.

hope everything goes well with your new mobo.
I am in the middle of trying to solve a similar problem, except the mobo LEDs dont light up in my case. Oh well :(

As simplemind said, if you want to keep this board, you would need to use (maybe borrow from a friend) an older supported processor so that it could boot, then flash it.

So, I got a new Asus P5KE-WiFi. Its actually revision 1.01 instead of the 1.00 I had before.

I put it in the MoBo tray and hook up the CPU, Memory, Video Card, PS to the 24 and 8 pin connector and the video card, the front panel connectors. Hit the power and....

nothing, doesn't even try.

So I reseat it again, nothing.

Then I take it out of the mobo tray and put it on my table. Fire it up and JACKPOT!!!!! POST!!!

However, I cannot get this thing to not short out in my mobo tray.

Let me clarfiy some more.... I can get it to boot while in the MoBo tray, but as soon as I put it in its final position next to the back plate, it won't boot.

How do I diagnose the short? I'm pretty clueless.

It sounds silly but all I can think of is to make sure you don't have any unnecessary stand-offs on your tray or rogue screws.
