New build, no video IE.1.5volt 8x AGP question?

Putting together a new system MSI KT4vl, XP2000, GeForce 4 mx420(gainward GeForce 4 powerpack pro-450TV), Kingston DDR333 thats it put it all together power it up fans spin no video output. Thinking bad M\board Try out CPU, ram vid card in other working machines all good. Notice the M\board is 4x\8x 1.5 Volt AGP can this be my problem can this vid card be 3.3volt 4x I thought all AGP was backwards compatible now i'm not sure anymore. Any input is appreciated. :disgust:

8X AGP slots are only backward compatible to 4X with 1.5V cards, they don't support 2X or 3.3V (and Intel 4X slots don't support 3.3V cards; some AGP2X cards were notched as if they were 1.5V but weren't, and could cause damage if used in an Intel board). However the MX420 is a 4X 1.5V card, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Try another card in the new board?

Incidentally, why are you crippling such a system with an MX card? And the lowest one at that..

Thanks Lord. Thats what I thought. i tried an old PCI card and still nothing so There is something with the M\board itself. As to why its only a comp for business apps dont need high end 3d. once again thanks for the reply.
