New build -- need to find alternative/upgrade to Antec SLK3000-B

So yesterday I assembled my new build consisting of the following components:

E6600
P5W DH Deluxe
2GB G.Skill DDR2-800 HZ
eVGA 8800GTS
2 x 400GB Seagate SATA
2 x 320GB Seagate SATA
1 x 320GB WD SATA
Silverstone OP650 PSU
Zalman CNPS9500 LED
LiteOn SATA DVDRW
NEC & BenQ IDE DVDRW / Pioneer slot-load DVD-ROM (still deciding which to install)
37" Westinghouse 1080p
Antec SLK3000-B case from my previous rig
Yada yada yada

This thing is screaming fast but I have two complaints about my case that I didn't have with my previous build:

1 - My GTS barely clears the hard drive cage in the case; I actually can't have a hard drive in the middle position due to the PCI-E connector. I could of course get an external enclosure or two to remedy this problem, but I'd have to constantly be swapping drives & cables.

2 - I can't even put the side panel on because my HSF comes in contact with the duct in the panel. I just looked and there are 4 screws holding the duct to the panel, so I could unscrew them and lose the duct, but there's still the problem with the video card and hard drives rubbing shoulders.

This case was cheap and has good airflow; I bought it due to recommendations on the forums for my last build, but I had similar clearance issues with my X1900XT. I wish they would make the PCI-E power connectors on the side of the cards rather than the front... I'm thinking I might be moving to a case with more room since the new video cards are so huge.

I previously had a Lian Li PC6077 which offered superior build quality to my current Antec, but now that I've had a case with 120mm fans I just don't think I could go back to one with 80s. There has been a lot of talk about the Antec 900 lately...I know it can move some air but I read today that even it can be cramped. I wouldn't mind having something less flashy but with equal or better airflow and obviously more room for these beastly video cards.

So...Any suggestions for a case with great airflow that's easy to work with and has plenty of room (and can I get this in a midtower ATX case)? I don't really want a full tower if possible. Thanks in advance.

There is at least one thread here with links to other sites about cases that are compatible with the long vid cards. Did you try searching on 8800GTX or 8800GTS? Never mind, I already know the answer. Anyway, here's the link to the thread:

There is at least one reason that mid-tower cases are the size they are. It's so their shipping boxes will fit within the 84" limit before you hit the oversized package category. I know UPS, USPS and DHL use that measure. IDK about FedEx.

I may have a Rosewill R5604 for sale (black w/ silver) that has 11" of card space or I may have an Aerocool Coolview (which has at least 11.5" depending on how you arrange your drives) with a Coolermaster Device Module for sale. I'm still mulling over which one I want to use and which I want to keep - you could help me decide... ;) .

Both of these are a bit oversized - the Coolview moreso (boxes don't fit the 84" limit). But there is space inside.

Zepper, I did not do a search for those cards in this forum since everyone knows search sucks here, but I have seen the thread that you linked to. Problem is, the majority of that thread is just a simple yes/no on whether the 8800 cards fit; I wanted recommendations on a case that would accommodate a newer full length video card while having great airflow and build quality.

So you're saying I'll most likely have to resort to a full tower? I can't believe there aren't more popular mid-tower ATX cases that fit my requirements (btw that Rosewill has the side duct just like my Antec...that will almost certainly collide with the Zalman HSF :( )

You are going to need a case that is about 18Hx20Dx8W. Just on the far edge of midtower. Sort of like my R5604. The Tt SViking is based on the same chassis as the R5600 series.

I just got an Enermax Uber Chakra. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi...a&Submit=ENE&N=0&Ntk=all&Go.x=0&Go.y=0

Hmmm, what do you think of it so far? I guess it's too new to have any user reviews on Newegg...looks like it has a lot of room, though.

Don't have it yet, but here is some more info. I'll post here in 3 days when it arrives.

It's HUGE: http://img121.imagevenue.com/view.php?image=60139_1_122_201lo.jpg

Basically an old school steel case with modern quiet cooling.

Only downside: 24lbs
