For a few more dollars, you can get he Epox 9NPA Ultra, I will buy that board as well. Check out Anandtech's review. The hard drive is very decent, but for a few more dollars you can get the Seagate 7200.9 160GB.

Also, try to get a retail dvd burner as it will come with software, not sure if you really need it or not.

Why won't you overclock? And, if you're not overclocking, why go with an overclocker's setup? Just get a cheap s754 board and Athlon 64 3700+. And what's with the $98 PSU? No, that build looks pretty poor, I'm sorry to say.

PC Power and Cooling is the most reliable brand of computer power supplies. Period.

or order it direct from pc power and cooling? theres gonna be extra shipping either way. You get no 'all one order' shipping savings from newegg anyway.

I've never even heard of them. How do you know they're reliable?

Fortron Source is just fine for PSUs, but I wouldn't spend more than $50 or so. Newegg has a nice 350W dual rail unit for $37, last I checked.

If you want to overclock down the line, I'd go with an Epox board. They're cheap, reliable and have a wide range of features.

Quoted for ignorance of the jaw dropping class.

How about this, I've used thier products for more than a decade? I've used thier PSUs for mission critical servers and life support computers? They invented indepedantly regulated computer PSUs? They invented the first redundant server PSU solution, and make the first SLI certified PSU?

I'm sorry I haven't heard of some PSU manufacturer. Get over it.

I'm not saying they aren't reliable. I'm just skeptical that PC Power & Cooling is the most reliable solution out there.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter. This is an $800 PC, not a life support computer. A $40-$50 PSU will do just fine, I'm sure.

Since you took the time to edit that in, I'll bite: When you go to a car forum and haven't heard of Rolls Royce, lets see you get off so easy.

Let me ask you this. Have you heard of the second most reliable brand of PSUs? Zippy/Emacs? Or the third? Seasonic?

OP>

one thing is true. You can definately get by with a cheaper PSU.

This isn't a car forum, and PC Power & Cooling isn't Rolls-Royce.

That's exactly what PC power and cooling is to computer PSUs.

Here->

Antec Solution Case w/ 350w PSU

Epox EP-9NPA+Ultra

AMD ADA3000BPBOX

Gigaram 1GB DDR400

Seagate 7200.9 160GB

BenQ 1640

$566 leaving $234 for video card. or upgrading something else. What kind of games?

why would you tell him to get a single 1gb stick for a processor thats dual channel dependant?

and if you game at all and arent gonna overclock for awhile skip the 3000+its gpu scaling is weak if its not overclocked to 3200+ and beyond,.. and dont settle for anything less than a 6800gt(im assuming since you originally picked a 6600gt you want nvidia),and if you8 choose a sli chipset it does leave you with an option for later so when new gpus hit and instead of buying a 300-400 dollar gpu all over again the 6800gt will be even cheaper than it is now ,...so just slap another one in when you can and your in the game again ,..even if you dont get another 6800gt,..its better to have the oprion incase than to not have the option at all

dual channel is a very insignificant difference to the A64. and 2x512mb would leave a bad 2GB upgrade path, which is EXACTLY why i recommended a 1GB stick.

Or, you have nothing stating that I'm wrong, and are obviously a complete dumbass suggesting things like biostar motherboards. Which in all honesty, is about as lame as it gets. Trying to tell someone, whose building a computer for someone else, that only wants a $800 casual gaming and web surfing machine that SLI upgradability is important enough to shirk a quality brand non-SLI motherboard for the worst brand SLI board in existence. Or calling a CPU that gains less than 5% performance from 128-bit memory mode, dual-channel dependant. It's pretty obvious to even the most casual observer that you are a completely and blithely ignorant of current computer technology, and nonchalantly offer unwise suggestions. In other words, STFU you fscking stupid prick.

Dude what's wrong with this it's clearly the system he thinks he will need and will do very well for him.

The only thing I can say is get some Corsair ValueSelect instead of that Rosewill RAM.
