1. This PC will be used for gaming, specifically multiboxing, and some video editing

2. High end of budget would be around $3500, can go higher if needed.

3. USA

4. None really, just looking for reliable-best performing parts

5. Looking for the main guts of the box, I have monitors, keyboard and mouse

6. Yes, none really in this price range

7. Plan on OC'ing down the road

This will be my first build
As stated before, this comp will be for multiboxing, and for diminishing the need to upgrade for the next couple years.
Aircooling to start with, might try WC'ing later on.
It will be running 3 monitors, 1 24" Gateway and 2 22" HP's.
Here is a list of parts so far, feel free to make suggestions. I'm looking to do this within a couple of weeks.🙂

There's no such thing as 'diminishing the need to upgrade for the next couple years'. You are better of spending 1000$ now, another 1000$ in a year and another 1000$ in the year after that, then spending it all at once now, because in 2 years, or even a years time, 1000$ is going to buy you a rig, that will completely blow away what you've got picked out right now.

Do you honestly think the QX9650 is worth it over a q6600, which can be overclocked to 3.4ghz on air relatively easy ? The motherboard, I doubt it will support newer cpu's then p35 mobo's will. So I'd spend half the money, on a gigabyte ds3r, asus p5k or abit ip35 pro http://www.newegg.com/Product/...&Tpk=abit%2bip35%2bpro. The ram, I can live with that, if you want the heatsinks. For gaming, I'd rather have this http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130325 over the HD3870. I'd also rather have this powersupply, since it's allready way more power then you need, modular, and A LOT quieter then the PCP&C 750w. The case, well if it does it for you, I guess it's just fine. My favorite, and I have to mention it, is the p182: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...2E16811129025&Tpk=p182 but there's plenty of other options, so make sure you look around a little. Like the antec 900, CM 690, the coolermaster cosmos, lian li's, etc etc.

In the end, just drop tje QX 9650, an overclocked q6600 will be PLENTY fast for your needs, and you can always replace it with a new 45nm qaudcore in 2 months time, and those CPU's will most likely overclock to similar speeds as that overly expensive 1000$ CPU. Perhaps get this ram if you are shooting for high overclocks on new 45nm qauds: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231145

I think I just saved you LOTS of money.

For an all out no corners cut rig, it looks pretty good IMO. If you really want to blow money you can try two 3870X2s for real insane power.

Suggestions:

1. Get a sound card if you have any money left over, personally I don't like onboard sound.

2. Get a few seagate 7200.10 250Gb HDDs, RAID 5 them, and you'll have humongous storage and reliability/speed for a while. (RAID controller optional, but you'll need to get a different board with 3 PCIE slots for the controller.)
