My Pentium III 500 mhz system is on its last legs, and I've decided it's time for an upgrade.

Here's what I have so far...

Case - Cooler Master Centurion 5 (no window)

MB - MSI K8N NEO4-F
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-491&depa=1

CPU - Athlon 64 3000+
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-501&depa=1

Memory - Kingston ValueRAM Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-141-423&depa=1

HD - 80 GB Hitachi SATA
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=22-145-075&depa=1

VC - Leadtek GeForce 6200
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-122-205&depa=1

PSU - ENERMAX Noisetaker Series 420W Power Supply, ATX12V Ver2.01

I'll be reusing my DVD drives. I'm open for suggestions on all counts, but money is an issue. I'm keeping this around $600. I'm plan on waiting to see how the Venice core affects the AMD pricing structure before I pull the trigger on my purchases.

I'm unsure on my PSU choice. Is it really optimized for this system? I know I want a 24 pin with a seperate PCIe connector. Also, I need something in the $100 range for the video card. I don't know if my choice is really the best one. Gaming isn't really a huge concern of mine right now, but I do plan to use it for some games.

I don't think you'd need a pci-e connector PSU for a 6200 video card. My 6600gt doesn't require additional hookups. That is only reserved for the highest end cards, like the 6800 & x800 series.

Thanks for the info; I wasn't aware of that. I still think it would be a good idea to have it for the future.

It seems a shame to have such a nice system with a sub par video card. Even if you only plan to game occasionally, you would be well served by going with at least a GeForce 6600.

:( I know, but I had to make a sacrifice somewhere. I'll try to work in a 6600 if I can. Thanks for the input.
