Well yes i curently still run my Pentium 2 450, 256 MB ram Pc100, Asus p2b, Geforce2 TI 64mb.... :)

Youtube videos are lagging on my computer! :)

I want to be able to play all new games, I'm interested by games like Fallout3, Crysis, Farcry2, Oblivion, Stalker and so on...

As for applications, i will be using Softimage XSI for 3D, Photoshop and Combustion, After Effect for Compositions...

if you are getting an e8x00 cpu, why not just get a Q6600 instead? considering how long you have gone between upgrades, the q6600 will probably last you long enough easily, and it is the same price as an e8400 (in some places e8500) now. you can also overclock it on stock cooler and stock voltage to 3GHz usually. it's just a generally better value for the money as far as long term performance.

Yes i tought of it... but i will not last this long again... what i wanted to do, is to get a fast dual core now and upgrade for a quad later when they will get down in prices... (Q9XXX)
