I'm going to build a new computer that functions as my main computer with its main use as a gaming rig and duals as a HTPC. I have a 20" 1600x1080 monitor and a 42" 720 plasma (1024x768 version). I want to be able to use the 20" as my computer and also watch blu-rays on the 42". I understand that because i'll be sharing a computer i won't be able to say game on the 20" and watch a blu-ray on the 42". I'll also be doing moderate overclocking on air.

Basicaly, I want parts advice and I have some specific questions. Let me know what you think:

OS - Vista 32 or 64 bit. Not sure which way to go. If I go 64 bit i'm looking at 8gb of ram but i don't know if i should do 2gbx4 or 4gbx2. the prices for 4gb modules are much higher.

memory - if price of 8gb isn't more than $100 more i'll go this route with 64 bit vista. if it's a lot more i'll go 32 bit vista and do 4gb.

Motherboard - any advice on a good stable board? I don't care about SLI.

chip - wolfdale 8400 or 8500 for moderate OC

Video card - looking at 9600gt or ati 3570. both are 200 or less. I will probably upgrade to the next generation in 6 months or so when they come out

wireless keyboard/mouse - haven't a clue. i need about 10 feet of wireless distance

powersupply - again, I'm lost on what to get.

case - already have a nice one. mid tower

blu-ray drive - i've seen them for 150-200. any advice on specific models?

hard drive - 500gb or so. not needed now

fan - what's the one to get now?

speakers - i'll get this later. i heard z5500 logitechs work great with build in soundcard on motherboard. any advice on this one? i just want it for the 42" plasma. i have regular speakers for computer. would I be able to hook both up at the same time?

Use 64 bit Vista and go 8GB of RAM. Contrary to belief, except with certain hardware, 32 bit can only effectively us 2GB of RAM, which you want more as a high end gamer, 3.2GB with certain hardware and OS hacks. Get 64 bit and forget about the RAM problems. Also, get 4GB unless you're running VM's or something. 8GB's is useless even for today's mega gamers. If you overclock, use the fewest high density DIMMS as possible. Meaning if you want 8GB get 4GBx2 of high performance stuff.

As for input devices, I use the Logitech MX Revolution, and the Logitech DiNovo rechargeable keyboard and i'll never wanna use another. Love them both.

Get a 500GB drive for 99$ from tigerdirect.com on sale. Dam at that price I'd pick up 4 and build a RAID 5 array :p.

If you have a case already and unconcern with looks/noise (since buying 9600) ? just make a best working/gaming pc for yourself ? it will easily play 720p with your choice of components.
