Well I took the plunge and decided to basically rebuild my PC again. Seven years of AMD and was ready to keep going AMD.... But after doing the research found out that intel is light years ahead.
Anyway my old system
AMD Athlon x2 4200+ Toledo
MSI Nforce4 Mother board (read old now)
2 Gig Ram
140 Gig Harddrive SETA
8600GT
500 Watt Power supply older (2006) Thermatek
Updating to
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
MSI OC GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3
Antec earthwatts EA500 500W (new Power supply)
OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Was going to get a new Case too... But My 8 year old Inwin case still works and does what its suppose to do.... Don't think I will have much of a heating issue with this case, it has been holding 5 gererations of some of the hottest AMD chips around.
Anyway at $550, seems like a good upgrade to me that will last a few years.
Not looking foward to the Reinstall of VISTA that goes with every rebuild... And the updates uggg.
