ERROR HAS BEEN RESOLVED
So, a friend of mine recently built a new computer, specs as follows:
MSI Z97 PC Mate (secondhand)
Xeon E3 something (i7-4770 without iGPU, temps fine)
16 GB Ripjaws DDR3-2400
EVGA GTX 970 (B-stock)
EVGA 600B power supply (B-stock)
Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit
We've encountered these problems
-Windows updates not installing (error message on restart, "can't apply updates, reverting")
-DWM crashing on startup (resolved by disabling DWM, but still troubling)
-Windows Experience Index crashes during D3D10 batch assessment (error log below)
-Before Windows was installed, the PC shutoff unexpectedly one time.
Tests run:
-Prime95 + Heaven (30 minutes)
-Windows Aero troubleshooter
We've tried these solutions:
-Reinstalled display drivers, tried most recent two installments.
-CHKDSK (0 errors)
-System file checker tool (no errors)
-Disabled previous Windows Experience results

-DWM error not present in safe mode boot.
