New build Computer won't boot

Just put a new build together and it won't boot at all. Both cables to my mobo are connected, I'm getting no fans going, Power LED flickers on then off, just nothing. What is going on....

CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2
Z-87A Asus Mobo
i7-4770k
Sapphire 7950
8 GB GSkill RipJaw Ram
Samsung 840 250GB
Fractal Design Define R4

Any tips on what I should do to start trouble shooting?

The Green light on my mobo is on.

Ok so I disconnected the SSD, and boom everything starts up. But I don't know what to do as I need the SSD.

Whenever the SSD is hooked up it just won't boot. I don't understand why.

Note to anyone using modular power supplies, you can't use spare cables from other previous modular power supplies. They do not work....

Depends on the make/model 🙂 But yeah, good rule of thumb is don't mix PSU cables, if you need extras make sure they're coming from the same manufacturer and are properly labeled to work for your PSU.

Believe it or not, even the standard three prong "black external power cable" comes in a few different power ratings, not that i've ever had a problem just using whatever.

YA, I think the SSD fried because of it. Now that I am using the right cable, it boots, but I can't see the SSD. I have to RMA it. I JUST got windows and was so excited to install it. After 4 hours of mishaps, I finally get it to boot up from my USB drive, and boom, nowhere to install. Just great.
