First I've built dozens of computers -- which doesn't make me an expert, but does make me experienced.
Just completed a new build on a EVGA Z68/P67 motherboard with the expectation I would be able to overclock to 4.5GHz.
The only drive connections possible to this motherboard are SATA.
I formatted a new Seagate 1,500 GB drive to NTFS on another computer which I connected to the new built. Formatted only -- no files on the drive.
On bootup the system reports no hard drive detected. After trying several times, resetting CMOS etc. decided the size might be a problem so formatted a 640 GB Western Digital drive -- with the same results. Tried other SATA sockets, changed out SATA cable, swapped power supply connector.
Always get the same result, No hard drive detected.
Don't usually need a motherboard manual. Unfortunately the EVGA maual is the worse I have ever seen -- not even a layout of the motherboard in it.
Any ideas of why the system cannot detect a hard drive?
Thanks
