Well it's time that I update my 939 system and I want a fast computer that will last me a minimum of two years....I will be overclocking it, for sure....I will be using my rig for multi-tasking. Photshop, Nero,etc...I will also play games too....

Asus P5K Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P35
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Corsair Dominator 2GB DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB
WD Raptor 150GB
Enenermax Infiniti 720W

I will be keeping:
Lian Li
WD 74GB Raptor
WD 250GB Caviar SE16

thoughts?

I would think that it would, although my 500 watt Liberty couldn't power a DFI Ultra-D, an X2-4400 @ stock speed, and an X1900XT, with a single HD, and a single optical drive. That same psu has been running for almost a year now in this PC, which has another Ultra-D, an A64 4000, a 7600GT, two HD's, and two optical drives. It doesn't even falter when I'm running the cpu @ 2.85 Ghz.

Your DFI rig probably didn't draw more than 300W under load. Don't know how a 500W PSU wouldn't have handled it.

8800gt, should be hitting the shelfs on monday ... I'd say you don't need the pc2 8500, ddr2 800mhz is plenty, it will allow your q6600 to run at 3.6ghz without overclocking the ram. Good luck running it at 3.6ghz without watercooling of some sort though ... As for the PSU, OVERKILL, 520hx from corsair would be plenty ... Do you need the deluxe p5k btw? You could go with the p5k vanilla and save some money ... Why would you need 2 raptors ? The 74gb not big enough anymore ?

I picked that RAM for OCing......Too much? I'll go down on the PSU...I will go with the vanilla P5k...sounds better to me....I need another Raptor because the 74GB has run out of room....

Well, ddr2 800mhz will run 1:1 with your q6600 if you up the FSB to 400. With a 9 multiplier, that will be 3.6ghz. Q6600's can hit 3.6ghz, but only with REALLY good cooling. Even a thermalright 120 ultra extreme will have a hard time keeping a q6600 cool enough at 3.6ghz though. Since that's the highest overclock you could possibly keep cool, ddr2 800mhz is more then enough.
