I am open to suggestions on everything, but actually seeking advice on underlined/bolded items. I dont care much about aesthetics as is obvious in my case choice, so If you know something wont fit right speak up but if you feel so compelled to tell me the case is ugly that is your perogative and right.

I really would like to know if there is anything I could get a little better bang for the buck, I do plan on OC'ing probably 400x8 at 1:1 but well see when the stuff gets here. Thank you in advance for your consideration and opinions.

Also I was wondering about my PSU it has a single high amp 12v rail, is there a advantage disadvantage to this? If so please give me the run down. I do plan on moderate gaming running solidworks 3d cad and upgrading to vista.

The Lian-Li cases are made well, constructed of aluminum and use 120mm fans...just for your consideration

Motherboard looks good also

For memory I'd also look here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144 has Micron D9

What are you looking at for CPU cooling?

Thanks Moosey , I picked the ram from gigabytes compatibility list, if that patriot is on there and you think its a little better Id definately consider it because I am no fan of corsair or any brand , I just like things that work correctly !!

If you look at my signature you will see my current rig has a lian-li case. I am very fond of it other than the airflow. My current case has a removeable MB tray and all thumbscrew assembly, I really like that, and I would be missing it if I make this purchase. It isnt horrible but I was hoping to try (risk) something a little more agressive. The two 25cm fans have me intrigued, I also like there plastic snap rails.

For cpu cooling I have looked at the Tuniq Tower reviewed here at anandtech and I have reserved my decision to purchase until I see what the stock intel heatpipes can do for me. It appears alot of people have achieved moderate OC with the stock cooler.

If my logic is off I am always open to ideas, again thank you for your time and suggestions.

intel has no stock heatpipes 😉 Your build looks good. The RAM moosey recommended will definately work on the DS3, simply because of the micron IC's 😛 If you want to save 10 bux on the PSU and want a modular one, I'd suggest the Corsair 520W. They both can supply ~30A on the +12V rail, but the corsair (seasonic made) is more efficient. As far as I know, single rail PSUs were better for extreme dual card setups.

I recenlty built a system with the E6400 and DS3 (with some g.skill 2gbnq sticks) and was able to OC it to 3.2Ghz on the stock intel cooler... but it ran somewhat hot (45° C @ idle), so I got a Tuniq Tower for it, but havent had a chance to install it 🙁 yet. I'll let you know the temps once I get it installed. Oh, btw, the system is in a Lian-Li PC-60, hehe.

If you like big cases, go for the Cooler Master Stacker 😀 The P180B and Nine Hundred (both from antec) are also popular, as well as the Tt Armor Series.

Ok I will go ahead and throw a tuniq tower on there.

Ill switch to the corsair PSU, and patriot ram.

Updated , and any news on whether this cpu cooler fits this case?

At this point Im at my price constraint, so I can make lateral moves but no further encumberment. Hopefully Ill have a more comfy OC with this setup. If I do get an easy 3.2 Im staying there.

That 36GB raptor is about as fast as modern 72K hard drives, it's a waste of money, go for one, high-speed 500GB drive for less than the price of the two you're buying. Newer drives are more dense, to the point where they're almost as fast, if not as fast at the old raptors.

Will you ever go high-end SLi/Crossfire? If the answer is no then you save quite a bit and go with a 330-430 watt Seasonic S12 (Seasonic builds all of Corsair's units) since you max load DC power draw will probably be 200-250 watts. If you overclock the CPU and GPU you might reach 275 but that's still no sweat for the 380 or 430 watt S12.

Personally I would opt for the Zalman CNPS-9500AT over the Tuniq Tower for it's 4 pin PWM fan (vs. the Tuniq's 3-pin) for automatic fan control and much quieter operation (it's also a bit cheaper).

Lastly I would choose a monitor from a manufacture with a bit more of a reputation; Dell, Acer, View Sonic, NEC, ect.

This would make it the same price as an S12 430W:
$90 - Corsair CMPSU-520HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 520W ($100 - $10MIR)

I sure hope it fits, lol. I'm too tired to try right now. The case is 210mm wide, and the tuniq is 153mm tall, leaving 57mm for the cpu socket, mobo, mobo standoffs, and mobo tray. My uncle has the same case, but uses the Thermalright Ultra120... which is taller than the Tuniq, so it should fit, unless I'm mistaken.

//edit
The performance data for the 36gb raptor on storagereview.com site is for the older model, wd360gd. The newer model is actually faster, wd360adfd.
