My new Build P6x58d

Just a quick update (updated 12-25-09):

So far very impressed, I love this new board!

Running under load the temps are stable at 52-58c running steady 24/7 4.14 GHz and 12 Gb of ram running loose at 1600 9-9-9-24

Temps running prime95 8 threads after 20 minutes was a steady 68-70 C on all cores - Yet to see how tight and fast the memory abd cpu can or how low the voltage can be set while maintaining stability.

Voltage:

CPU - 1.35v
qpi - 1.35v
pll 2.0v
dram 1.64v

Main stresses are multiple windows photoshoping large files >1gb for processing for photoreal scenery in FSX. My last setup was AMD 940 4.0 GHz 8 GB ram.

Haven’t tweaked very much yet, as I am not familiar with Intel BIOS, but will see how far the CPU can go, back it down, and see what the ram will do and then try for a best stable 24/7 and post my settings.

Parts list below:

Mother Board - ASUS P6X58D Premium

CPU - I7-920 DO batch 3942 Newegg

Heatsink - Megahalems Slightly modified to fit tall ram heatsinks from my previous build (and glad I did - clearance still an issue) Hey Heatsink manufacturers!!!!???

Fans 2-Nochtua 140x25 flex fans (painted Black with vinyl dye)

Memory - 12 GB Patriot PC3 1600 (2000) 8-8-8-24
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220401

Hardrives 2- WD Cav-Black 1T sata HD Newegg

Case - CoolerMaster 840 Black slight mods to cover up openings in rear with matching aluminum sheet stock. Added plenty of Fans for add for extra air flow but running quiet! I love this case!

PSU - BFG EX 1000

Video Card - BFG GTX285

Win 7-64

How much voltage are you pushing through that puppy? That's a sexy amount of fast ram.

Haven't tried finding any max low/high values yet, should be able to lower the ram and maybe even the cpu.

What fans did you add to the 840? Does it only have the 2 120mm slots on the other side of the 3.5" drive cage and one 120mm slot at the bottom?

Also how are your north bridge's temps? I hear the X58 runs hot.

Definitely sexy. Especially the 12GB part. Oh and of course the 4.14 GHz. :) Enjoy the bleeding edge!

Jeez, good question, Ok, I have CPUID monitor, Everest, Sandra, and Its reading so may sensors I cant Id the Northbridge...help!

Ths does have very nice heatsinks, so nice in fact I didnt bother with taking them off and putting some AS5 with new fastners (I like to use SSteel Screws, Springs washers and nuts) Which is the Northbridge?

Sorry cant get to the pix yet, but when it gets to tweaking this will be fun. Ran Vantage - 11220 so far...but still loading software - four hardrives worth....Ugh!

I agree this board is great. With several hours of adjusting voltages & testing, I have not been able to effect any better stable settings. For what I need to do, I get the most speed with higher CPU clock. BCLOCK = 208. CPU ratio setting 21.

So, I am really curious the results you get as you have time to get into it more.

What are you using to measure your cpu temps? They look pretty low for what you are setting them at.
