Last PC I built was a few years ago (ASUS A7N8X?) - still works fine, but I want to get a bit more up to date. Don't have RAM yet, that's where I could use some help! I wish to save money, but will pay for reliable products with decent performance - not overclocking.
I have Windows XP SP2, ASUS M2N-SE MX Plus mobo, WD 640GB SATA HDD, Enermax PSU, and a PCI-E graphics card (here somewhere). PC will not see intense use, fast gaming, - just home use by 65 year old (me).
NEWEGG ad says DDR2 1066. ASUS User Guide says "Dual Channel, 240 pin, up to 4GB (2 X 2GB) of unbuffered non-ECC 1066/800/667/553 DDR2. On ASUS website, OCZ is not on the QVL (Qualified Vendors List). I haven't found anything about adjustability in the BIOS for RAM voltage. I had wanted to get OCZ's 2 X 2GB Nvidia SLI Ready OCZ2N800SR4GK, but I think it wants 2.1 volts to run well? I don't know if I can use that RAM or not with this mobo? Not on QVL, mobo voltage selectability? That RAM costs about $75 after shipping, with rebate. Good or NO GOOD?
Other suggestions? TIA.
6/5 Update: Sent the motherboard back -looked like trouble, and not worth it.
