Hello everyone, its been a long time since I posted here so I'll start off with the proper Q and A and then go into some detail after that.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

-Mostly gaming. (team fortress 2, call of duty 4, etc.)
-I also need onboard firewire to do basic video capture.
-Run Vista Ultimate and use media center capabilities.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

-Considering I just bought the processor, I would like to keep the rest of the parts around $500-$600

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

-Prefer nvidia, other than that, I am open.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

-Use current: SATA hard drives, optical drives, tv tuner, case, maybe keep audigy card unless PCI slots availibility dictate i use onboard sound.
-Also keeping current 19" LCD panel.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

-After being out the upgrade loop for quite some time, I have been watching the CPU and General Hardware forums for advice.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

-I usually keep everything at default speeds to prolong component life and stay within warranty guildlines.

So I just purchased the X3350 for my new upgrade build. I had originally wanted to go for the E8400 but the OOS and price increases made the in stock X3350 look good. I usually dont get to upgrade very often so I figured the new quad core was a good choice.

Back when I built my list for the E8400, these are the parts I had selected:

I am open to changing out the motherboard to something that will work with the new X3350. I will defer to your guys judgement on that. Other than that, do you guys have any suggestions that I may be overlooking?

If you have any questions, let me know I will try and answer promptly.

Thanks in advance!

Faster and quieter video for less money... Sounds good to me.

Are the modular Corasir power supplies that much more expensive?

Also, any word on that ASUS baord supporting the X3350 right out of the box?

Thanks for the replies so far.

Nevermind, I clarified that myself. I would much rather have the 520HX with the modular support.

Now I just need to find a motherboard that will work out of the box for the X3350.
