New Build and x264 Encoded Videos are Choppy

I recently built a new rig and for the mean time, am running off of integrated video (GeForce 6150SE).

I have a few movies in x264 .mkv format and they seem to be pretty choppy during fast movement scenes. Also, it looks like it's skipping frames or something -- I forgot what the term is but there are "tears" in the frames.

I'm currently using the newest K-Lite Standard codec pack.

Could this be because I'm running on integrated graphics? The rest of my system should be up to par, x2 6000+, 4gb, etc and I've updated everything with the latest drivers.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

What are you smoking...
An "x2 6000+, 4gb", yet onboard video? I'm guessing you're using onboard audio as well?
Show your encoding machine a little respect and at least get some kind of video card.

BTW, That's only a starting point.

Yes, the onboard video is likely the culprit. If you do decide to get a video card, you won't need anything fancy, you can easily get by with a budget card like a 6600 or an x800.

As I recall, Video cards do very little with any codec other than maybe WMV and mpeg-2, unless you have a new 8x00 geforce or ATI 2x00. Do us a favor and tell us how much CPU power is being used while playing the video. If it's around 100% then it might very well be the lack of video card. if it's less than that, try uninstalling the codec pack, install FFDSHOW ( the newest). Then use VLC ( video lan) to play the videos. That might work better.

When the video is playing, CPU usage is 5-10%.

I'll try uninstalling the codecs when I get back. Hopefully that solves the problem, but I had the same codecs installed when I had a dedicated graphics card.

We'll see.
