I know, another one of these STUPID questions; basically just sharing the thoughts, options, spinning in me head. About a month ago when I decided to maybe look into the possibility of upgrading, I first found out that I was at a dead end with my CPU and MOBO, AMD FM2 Socket with my HD 7850K.......then I learn that while I have been "playing" AMD has been creating what they feel will be a new Competitor to Intel and are near to putting them on the market w appropriate mobos etc......After reading about what their new ZEN Cpu's are supposed to be like.....I figured that once again, I'd best wait because they will give more bang for da buck than Intel. At that time they predicted it would be in DEC, now looks like JAN........in the meantime I have been reviewing and pricing Intel 7 6700K, I5 6600K, and possible mobos to go with either....I really like looks of the Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 Ultra......and then I had to hold myself back when Fry's had promo special not long ago - I7 6700K for $279 or $269. I have not bought Intel for yrs. Getting kind of impatient....know they are about to probably lower those prices because I have read they are about to offer a CPU that upgrades present Skylake line. And then when AMD hits market with their 1st offering of ZEN Chips....the I7's should come down too I'd think.
Might KICK me BOOTY if I just went ahead right now on the afore mentioned mobo and an I7 Chip.....then in month and a half.......those 1st ZEN Chips are so DYN O MITE I get SICK!
Anyway, just spinning me wheels in public here.....chime in if u like....
Have a GREAT day!

Well, the BF / CM prices on the 6700K are unlikely to be beat, in fact, in the following few months, they will probably go up in price. Unless Zen really hits things out of the park. Then you can expect the entire Intel consumer CPU lineup to potentially drop in price somewhat.

Well if you really prefer AMD then by all means wait for Zen. Otherwise build a Skylake system now using any deals you can find.
