New build - a few questions

I put my new rig together last night and have a few questions. Here's the system specs since the site won't let me add the stats to my computers:

A64 3200+ Retail
MSI K8N Neo Platinum nForce3 250 Chipset
Crucial PC3200 DDR 1GB
Maxtor 200GB ATA133 7200rpm 8MB
MSI RX9800Pro
Windows XP PRO SP1
Antec True480Blue PSU
CoolerMaster Wave Master case <---wow what a case

So I put everything together last night, plugged it in, turned it on and presto - good post and straight to the bios. Rock on. Loaded Windows in about 10 minutes total time from startup. After loading WXP and SP1, I loaded the motherboard and video drivers from cd. Everything works just fine, except for two things:

1) My cpu temps acording to the PC Health section of the bios are almost 70 degrees celcius, which was somewhat alarming for me to the point that I disassembled the cpu/heatsink and reassembled to make sure I hadn't botched it. I'm sure the installation is correct, using Arctic Silver 5. What is the normal operating temperature range for this cpu?

2) I can't get the onboard lan to work. My network connections says the lan is installed, but I can't connect to the internet. Doesn't Windows automatically detect my braodband cable settings, or do i need to enter ISP info somewhere? Forgive me for asking this question, it's been a long time since I built a new box.

Thanks in advance.

How is your onboard lan connected to your broadband? If you type "ipconfig" at a command prompt, do you have an IP addresses? Need a few more details...

(1) This is known issue with the board reading temps incorrectly. There is supposedly a new BIOS that fixes it. Unless the stock heatsink is *that* bad...

The lan is connected with a standard cable from my cable modem to the back of the box. I checked the bios to make sure the lan was enabled. Haven't tried ipconfig, I'll try that tonight when I get home.
