Hello my name is will, I just found this site & need some help. I am in the planing stage of building a P.C. with & for my son. WE recently found out he was excepted into the Bronx H.S. for science. I thought it would be better & more educational for him to build a computer himself than to just buy an off the rack number. THis will be my second build attemt. The first box I build about three years ago. It is based on the xp3200+ chip & a abit M.B. I made only a few rookie mistakes on that build. After putting in a radeon 9600 pro vid card & sony dru 530a dvd r/w & maxtor hard drive i skimped on the case & power suppy. Turned out the power supply that came in the case would not let the rig boot. So I put in a antec true power & now it works fine. except i think the case is more like an oven than a P.C. case. Any way heres what I am thinking so far intel 4300 chip on a 965ds3 M.B & 4g ddr2 800. That much I know for sure. WE plan on over clocking the chip to 3.47gh. as for the vid card could i pull the radeon 9600 pro out of my abit box & put it in this rig? I really do not need a great vid card in my rig. I want to put three 500g hard drives in this puppy in raid 5 to give me 1t on storage. a good dvd r/w Floppy with card reader. My questions are first how does this set up sound? advice on the best 700w power supply, will one of the zalmen chip coolers fit on this board? best bang for my buck 500g hd. & also a good bang for the buck case not to flashy just good air flow. Thanks for any help you can give us. I really want to make this puppy something his new geek friends will wow about.

lots of ram is nice n good - but double check u need/want 4 gig...
u will DEFINITELY not b able to plug in the 9600pro - the interface of the card is entirely diff to that on the mobo...
OCZ, Corsair, enermax, thermaltake (though some will disagree with thermtake) all make good psus - their r other brands as well, cant think of 'em right now...
my PERSONAL tastes in hdd is WD or seagate, so get a 500gb from one of them...
ur cpu cooling is probably gonna need something other than stock to deal with ur planned oc...

I really like the Antec cases. I have my kids using a LanBoy and I have a P180. That Antec 900 looks nice and should have good airflow. I agree on the 4gb OS as a 32bit OS does not address all of the memory without using PAE.
