1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Gaming, video encoding, HD movies

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread.
$750-$800 (before tax)

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Canada. Would like to order from NCIX or Canada Computers due to being able to pick up locally, but if I save money from Newegg even with shipping I'm definitely willing to do so.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
No brand preference, just want the best.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
Only accessories(monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, wireless adapter, Win 7), so I basically need everything that makes up the tower.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yes, but not enough recent budget gaming builds to know for sure what to get.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Slight overclocking (i5 2500k to 3.6Ghz)

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1920x1080

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Within the next 3 weeks.

Notes:
- I'm planning on getting a 2TB drive to use for storage and was wondering which is the best/cheapest drive to use for that.
- So as a primary drive I don't need anything big, but do want good performance and with my budget I would rather not go with an SSD.
- Do not need SLI/Crossfire
- In terms of a case, just looking for the best at a reasonable price.
- USB 3.0 necessary, eSata would be nice as well, but not needed.
- 5.1 sound support needed (im guessing they all support it, just wanted to mention incase)

Thanks in advance 🙂

Damn, forgot to mention I already have Win 7, sorry about that.

Just looked up that Samsung drive, amazing for the price so I will prob hold off on the 2TB drive.

Thx for the suggestions so far 🙂

Then get this CPU. And if you can afford it this HSF so you can overclock to 4.5Ghz! Now i know this puts you 80 dollars over budget (before rebates) But honestly that extra 80 bucks is going a LONG way (getting you from an i3-2100 to an i5-2500k at 4.5Ghz!)

The 2500k OC's that easily on air? That's awesome.

How much of a difference do you think from stock to 4Ghz would make in video encoding?
