PLEASE when you POST threads asking for input on system builds tell us...

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
This will be my only computer so I?ll be using it for everything. Web browsing, paper writing, gaming, movie watching, all that.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
800? is the maximum and the lower the better.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Finland

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
No brand preference.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
I have no parts, I need everything.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
I?ve read a lot already.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
No overclocking initially, but might eventually.

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
Probably 1440x900

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Probably try to purchase tomorrow or the day after.

Other Issues:
Idle power consumption is pretty important to me, since this will be used for a lot other than gaming.

I?ll probably be using Ubuntu 9.04 as the primary OS and windows xp for gaming.

Here is what I was planning on getting. Please let me know if there?s anything obvious missing or that will cause a problem.

I'm currently planning to buy off this website, http://www.jimmspc.fi, mostly just because they are one of the only stores here to have a lot of stuff in stock.

Prices are relatively high here I think, and avilability of a lot certain things can be a little low, so these prices might seem off but its just normal here.

Processsor: Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition - 93?
Motherboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V Evo - 91?
DVD-ROM: Samsung DVD+/-RW DL 22x - 24?
Harddisk: Seagate 500GB, Barracuda 7200.12 - 49?
Case: Antec Three Hundred - 49?
RAM: Kingston DDR3 1333MHz, CL9 - 86?
Power Supply: Cougar CM 550W - 86?
Graphics Card: ASUS Radeon HD 4850, 512MB, PCI-E - 94.40?
Mouse: Logitech RX 250 Optical Mouse - 11?
Keyboard: Logitech UltraX Premium - 22?
Monitor: 19" TFT W1942TE, 1440x900, 5ms - 140?

I've looked at the Athlon II 620 a little. It seemed like it compared pretty closely with the 550BE in most things, but 550 was a little better in non-multithreaded applications and games. Is that right? I don't think i'll be doing much much that would really make use of the 2 extra cores soon, so I thought it might not be worth the extra cost (about 5?).

thanks for your reply.
