Seems cruel to confine a cat to indoors (unless you have a vast mansion, anyway). What about just putting a bell on them? If a bird hasn't got the sense to react to a bell tinkling behind them then surely Darwin applies?
Having taken in a number of strays over the years, I'm 100% fine with keeping prisoner kitties. Mites, worms, giardia, FIV, FIP, toxoplasmosis, dogs, and coyotes are waiting out there. Our former strays had no interest in going back outside. They knew a good thing when they found it. We have a screened in porch with cat shelves for the cats to get their air and watch birds.

^ yep. It should actually be considered cruel to let them roam about outside, if they are your domestic kitties. Their ave. lifespan plummets from ~15 or so years to 8, IIRC. I'd endorse legislation that criminalizes letting your cats roam outside.

It generally seems that cats would prefer to be out exploring, but that isn't the case. Domestic cats tend to prefer smaller spaces to larger ones, because it is less space for them to sentinel every day, because that is what they will do, every single day. Maintaining their claimed territory is a stressful endeavor, and if you are transitioning them from outdoors to indoors, they will bitch and cry for a while, but eventually settle down to their new, minimal stress palace. They are perfectly fine with windows or porches from where they can chatter at birds (and the birds still survive).

Feral cats and outdoor pet cats are as big a problem as feral hogs, if not moreso. ...I'd say they are a far bigger problem, especially because most owners refuse to accept the truth of these little murder monsters. (and I like cats....I just don't engage in the internet sociopathy that is cat-love :D)

This is the best. I especially love it when Trump supporters go into explanation mode over Trump's comments.

You love Trump because he "tells it like it is", yet are CONSTANTLY explaining what he actually meant.

If you have to explain what he actually meant, then he isn't really telling it like it is, is he?

Cats are predators by nature. My two cats would be murder machines outside. The mice population would live in terror, and so would the birds.

OTOH, the same principal as zoo's use could apply, keep them fat and happy and you could have some docile felines

Speaking of "predators "...

Didn't Trump say this was ok? This behavior is presidentially approved!

Flight diverted after man grabs passenger 'by the crotch,' criminal complaint says

An American Airlines flight was diverted to Oklahoma after a man grabbed a passenger seated next to him "by the crotch," according to a federal criminal complaint filed Friday.

James Clayton Cholewinski-Boy was charged with abusive sexual contact after Tuesday's reported assault aboard American Airlines Flight 807 from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Salt Lake City, Utah, the complaint said.
It's unclear whether Cholewinski-Boy has an attorney.

The alleged victim, identified as "E.J." in the complaint, was seated between Cholewinski-Boy and her daughter. Shortly after takeoff, he began touching the woman's arm and she repeatedly pushed his hands away, according to the complaint.

Cholewinski-Boy then "forcibly grabbed her by the crotch," the complaint said. The woman again pushed his hand away and demanded that he stop.
"Cholewinski-Boy threw up his hands and said 'sorry,'" according to the complaint.

The woman notified the flight crew, who moved mother and daughter to another part of the aircraft.

The pilot diverted the flight to Tulsa International Airport, where Cholewinski-Boy was arrested by airport police for public intoxication, the complaint said.
He was released Wednesday on his own recognizance, the Tulsa Municipal Jail told CNN.

"The public should know these allegations pertain to criminal sexual misconduct by Mr. Cholewinski-Boy against a female passenger, not a threat to the plane or air travel," U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma, Trent Shores, said in a statement.

American Airlines, in a statement, said: "The quick actions of our crew ensured the safety and wellbeing of our customers on the flight."

Yeh, but it feels right in their gut, so it must be true!

Poor birds are losing the race.
