New BOINC client

BOINC version 5.2.2 is now released as the recommended version.

Be advised though, the following projects are not using the version 5 software yet on their servers, which means you cannot use the new client for these projects until they upgrade:

LHC@Home
Lattice
SZTAKI
Folding@Home BOINC Beta

Ok, ok... I admit that I have not gone to it yet either. Although I am going to wait for most of my comps because of the lack of full support, I will try a few.

Remember, the version 5 tree has been out for a while in testing. So I think it is pretty safe.

Thanks for posting the link. 🙂

I'm downloading now.. I'll probably upgrade a machine tonight to see how it goes; if it seems to be working for a few days, then I'll install it on the boxes being added next week. 😀 Later on, I'll upgrade the rest of the fleet.

Predictor@home doesn't currently work fully with v5, you can't "attach", but they're planning to fix this later today.

Hehe, yes, who's gonna be the "beta tester" for that one? 🙂

Has already been running v5.2.2 for 3 days now, so someone else must do the "beta" testing.

So how many machines are you adding? You have been putting some good numbers up on E@H. If you have noticed, I went to Rosetta for a month (?). Just wondering if I come back, how much it will take to hold you off. 😉

Well, if you happened to see Geoff's "cheap cruncher" thread - I did give in to temptation and pick up three XP2400+ combos. 😀

Plus I have another XP1800 to bring online - just waiting for memory. I'll probably take the DL360(dual p3-800) offline though.. it's a bit on the slow side. And when you have a bunch of rigs at home you have to start figuring performance versus electricity costs. 😉
