Hi,

the new procs are coming up, and so are the new boards. Which will gain the top seed?
The nforce 2 or simply the next step of mobo the 400???

And why, what`s the ups and downs?

A lot depends of how the motherboard maker uses the chips, not just the chips themselves. If it was all up to the chip maker than all boards would overclock the same, setup the same, etc...

But I am leaning toward the KT400. The nForce2 should put some heat on the KT400, but the KT400 should be a little faster, BUT the nForce2 should have better sound(for the most part, again see boardmaker) and the nForce2 will have the option of on-board video.

VIA for me, but a little competition never hurt (see prices of CPU's after AMD put a run on Intel)

If you are building it for someone else then it is better to get a Board that has been out at least 2 months. That way if there are any bugs they will have been worked out. Now if it is for you then get the newwest thing as you will be able to fix it, but do you want your friend calling you ever day saying this POS "YOU!!!" built is doing xyz....

Better to get a KT333 board if you don't need on-board video, nForce if you need good 3D video.

Just on the basis of nVidia being nVidia, I have high expectations for nForce2. But I'm sort of holding out for Hammer. A dual-Barton system might be a cool toy too... :Q

I dont know what going to happen , I wont upgrade until hammer board hit the shelves for sure. KT400 and gforce is only a small gap . I saw a Lot of KT400 boards in Quakecon last weekend but nobody give you a streight answer about how good there are.

i would go with a kt333 or kt400 based board
(if i did get the kt333 i would make sure its one that supports the 1/5th pci divider so it will support the new athlonxp(333) cpu's that will come out in a month or so)
