New BMW 130i Announced

2-door

We will only get the 6-cylinder models:

http://forums.thecarlounge.net/zerothread?id=1821708

Here is what we know of the US-bound 1 Series:

-It will only come here with 6 cylinders
-There will not be a hatch version. Expect 2-door and 4-door sedans, and likely a convertible
-It will be nearly 2 years before it arrives

We will be driving a 116i later this month when we go to Geneva, and we will give a firsthand account of the car after driving it, even though the cara we'll have won't much resemble the American-market version.

where is that picture i saw on topgear, with a pile of turd with a BMW logo on top of it, with a caption of "you suckers will buy anything", when i need it?

surely it'll be fast and it's a bmw. but for how much? even for $30k, you can't even buy a base 325 sedan. if you want performance, buy an Evo8 for speed or a mustang GT for sheer torque. for luxury and performance, there is always the G35c.

i say bmw should make the M coupe again.

I think it's pretty cool looking.

Reminds me a bit of the Z3 hatchback. (which i liked a lot)

*325 starts at just under $30k
*It's a 1-series, 1 < 3, therefore this will be considerably cheaper
*It will most likely drive like a BMW should, which alone makes it worth its money
*Those cars are nowhere near in the same category as this 1-series
*You're a moran

so, is this BMW's competition for the Civic crowd, or more geared towards a slightly higher market?

Competes with the VW Golf, Audi A3, Ford Focus, etc...but is more expensive.

So we are getting the coupe as well? That looks significantly sexier...

*325 starts at just under $30k

MSRP $29,300
Destination & Handling $695 + tax

with 258 horses in a 3-liter with 17-inch rims? you expect it to be under $30k? stop dreaming.

*It will most likely drive like a BMW should, which alone makes it worth its money

i think you just owned yourself

WTF, the only model I'd think of buying is the hatch, and we don't get it?? Gimme a 1-series hatch gaddammit, and an A3 while you're at it (not that R32 crap.)

I know its smaller, but I wonder if this 1-series will steal sales from the TSX?

Europeans who have access to the smaller engines might cross shop this BMW w/those cars - Link

Yes, so if you were to live in a tax-free state, you can get a base 325 for under $30k. Therefore, you are wrong.

And you think they're going to promote a "lesser", smaller BMW, give it a name that clearly puts it at the bottom of the BMW lineup, and charge more for it than a 3-series?

*It will most likely drive like a BMW should, which alone makes it worth its money

you suckers will buy anything

...

Good one.

The G35 starts at over $33k, the 1-series, as other people in this thread are saying, will compete with the likes of the Focus, Golf, etc..If you think this car will be over $33k you're an absolute dumbass.

*You're a moran

i think you just owned yourself

You suck at the internet

you obviously have no clue if you think a bimmer with 258 horses will cost less than a 3 series with hub caps.

I see that you've wisely conceded all the rest of your amazingly ignorant points with a statement that just shows exactly how ignorant you are.

Alloy wheels are standard with 3-series BMW's, I can't remember a time when they've used hubcaps.
