here's more details


1. This is the AWARD(r) BIOS version 2.4 release.
2. This BIOS fixes the following problems of the previous version:
-Fixed without PS2 keyboard in WIN2000 can not find ps2 mouse.
-Fixed bug that the system hang-up while pressing PringScreen key if USB is enabled.
-Fixed use winflash flash itself error.

I used MSI Live BIOS.
That was a mistake! Came up with 'Verify Error', computer restarted and beep, beep!!!!!
The MSI live BIOS has been very good untill now, previously updating flawlessly from 1.8 to 1.9, 2.0.
So this time I had to send it back to my dealer for them to reprogram it to version 2.4.

Hmmm, looking at what version 2.4 fixes, it mentions: -Fixed use winflash flash itself error. Maybe the problem is now fixed??!!

holdencommodore, the Live Bios concept is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard - absolutely NEVER flash your BIOS that way, always do it locally so the chances that corrupt data (or simply a lost connection) will ruin your BIOS and your day 😉...just a suggestion, but a strong one.

Hope you get it straightened out, I truly think MSI was stoned when they came up with that idea and 'I' think they should reimburse anyone that's ever had a bad flash in case they ended up having to pay $$$ to get their BIOS fixed!!!

I know, I should use DOS, but is makes me sooo worried. I have stuffed several video cards with flashing. So if anything makes it easier, then I'll use it. Live BIOS had worked so well in the past, I didn't expect any errors. This whole experience puts me off updating! (i'll have to try to get my confidence back!!) 😉

Anyway, the mb had to be sent to MSI in Sydney (I live in Melbourne) for reprogramming. It could take up to two weeks! I'll definenty be asking MSI why this error occoured.
They make great boards, just that Live BIOS needs to be sorted...

Anyone have any tips about updating the old way???
Is the latest Power User/Overclockers BIOS better than 2.4? Any Instabilities?

And also, does anyone know what the '-Fixed use winflash flash itself error' was? Could this have been the problem with my update??

does this bios have all the vcore settings that the earliar bios files didn't have? how high does the vcore setting go with thius bios? thanx
