this bios update seems to have fixed the mosel ram problem for me....bios 1.002 to 1.003a would not allow me to run the ram at cas222, optimal settings above 143...
now

146fsb
cas222
optimal

sandra scores were 555/619...please not my system is all screwed up right now with a coorupt registry probably...but after updating the scores went up above 50pts

cpu score still lower than 2 days ago 1.2@1.386
3800/1800 vs 3960/1935

Awesome. That's good. I wonder what else it fixed? I am gonna try it out tomorrow to see if it fixes a network transfer problem I've been having. My system hardlocks when I do large file transfers and eventually corrupts my C partition! Argh!

Seems to work fine here, but I still can't go above 143mhz FSB with my Crucial cas 2-2-2 memory. Maybe I'll try the oldest bios.

need a blank floppy...copy aflash.exe to it..then a copy of .bin or .awd bios file you want...

reboot with Windows startup disk....then place the disk you copied bios and aflash.exe...

at the A:\aflash.exe...this will start the flash utility.

write down the exact name of the bios file...1004.bin or AVU1003.awd for example

The flash utility will ask if you want to update the bios...say yes and type name in exactly and sit back and watch the flash...follow direction when it is successful and reboot...

All the directions are in the Asus Manual as well.

My previously unstable above 143Mhz 2-2-2 Crucial RAM, now hits 150Mhz 2-2-2... in addition when I went to higher FSB's I had a problem with the system only showing 1/2 the RAM, I have 512Meg, and it would only post 256Meg... This problem is now gone as well... Now, it allways posts 512Meg..

I wonder how much more Asus can tweak the memory? Too bad they couldn't implement a TDR...Triple Data Rate. ;) Man, that would be awesome.

I'll have to try this BIOS... with 1001 I can hit 154... with 1002+ it miscounted my RAM and wouldnt go above 147...

<< A7V133 BIOS Ver. 1004 03/08/2001
1. Fix DIMM size detection error.
2. Add VIA codec ID number.

It works great, it counts my RAM correctly, and I can hit 154 FSB again.

Hey guys I know this is off topic, but I have a quick question about 4 way interleave. Do you need two sticks for it or can one stick do it too?

Yeah dudes! Asus is the $hit! I just fixed my NIC problem that has been plaguing me for the past few days. My NIC was in slot 2, rather than slot 4 cuz I was looking at it upside down ;), so I moved it to slot 1 and voila! My speeds are still way up there and I get no lockups. My files on my C partition would get all corrupted, too, causing me to restore a Norton Ghost image each time it did so! That sucked major donkey balls. Well, all is good now, so I am one happy mofo. Now I can begin to install my programs! Yippee! Good luck to the rest of ya with 1004.

I am happy with the A7V133 1004 BIOS. I pulled one of my 3 Crucial 128MB CAS2 RAM sticks, and added one of the Infineon 256MB sticks that I had trouble with before, and it now shows the correct RAM amount, and is working well with the Crucial at 148MHz
2-2-2.

That was my major complaint with the board, and am glad that ASUS sorted it out. I have not checked my Mosel Vitelic out yet, but it should work fine also, since it had the same issue as the Infineon.
