What? This 5 looks a hell of a lot better than the current generation. The current generation looks like they mashed the 3 series front with a 7 series rear and did a Frankenstein-like job of it.

The F10 is a leap above in looks alone. Can't wait until they announce the powertrains!

Well, I actually thought about its look alone, not comparing it with prev gen 5. lol. I'm thinking BMW is losing its direction with new 5 and 7, with the exception of Z4 (Which still not as great and unique as the ones from its arch-rivals, Audi and MB) My last hope is new 3 series.

Actually, so do I, lol. Frankenstein at least had a character, but F10 is just another Lexus-wanabee. Maybe it's just me.

lexus rips off bmw styling and you complain about bmw? :confused;

Oh well, now they are in lead, so who cares what they did before. lol. JK aside, to be honest, I've never thought Lexus ripped off BMW styling as I thought they did MB's.

I guess looks truly are subjective :)

I remember when the E60 first came out, I was considering getting one but as soon as I saw the "bangle-butt," I said hell no. Also, the front grills were shrunken, it is smaller than my E90 3 series. I was expecting a natural evolution from E39, not a complete make-over.

The F10 looks more like a natural evolution of the E39. It is a smoother, rounded version and it looks good IMO, not just from the rear.

To each his own! /beer

The new 5 series looks like a new 7-series and a 135i had a one night stand, and that was the bastard child that popped out of it.

I don't know if I like it or not though. I'd need to see it in person. When will these hit dealerships?

To me, the F10 looks a lot like an overgrown 3 series, with a couple 7-series styling cues (trunk shape, kidney grill area, etc).

the first couple of LSes could have been older MBs, but the current one is hoffmeister kinks and flat hood and trunk profiles. MB has gotten swoopy in comparison.

I'll have to see it in person, but so far the pictures look good. I'm not loving how tall the front end is...but I realize that likely has to do with European pedestrian safety measures and I'm sure it will grow on me.

Overgrown 3-series.

BMW is back to the "same sausage, three different sizes" concept that they wanted to abandon pre-Bangle. Then again, it works for Audi.

I liked that the 5 had a bigger look and feel, more commanding presence on the road - but now it does look just like a bigger 3. Way too plain for a 5. The rear end is too common... if you change the lights a bit it can be any old Ford. The front-end is too flat though I hate the 7 front too.

Extremely derivative styling. Say what you will about Bangle, but his designs were unique. I'm sure this will be a nice car, but it will blend in with a dozen other similar looking vehicles now.

I'm sure it will be a nice car to drive though. BMW seldom disappoints on the driving dynamics.

The front is much improved, but I prefer the rear styling of the E60 5 series.

Agreed.

Fuck Chris Bangle.

Like the e39-like front end treatment, the rest is safe, and very forgettable. The interior has barely changed. E60 please.

All the new Bimmers look identical.

The new 550 looks like a shortened 750; I'm sure the 3 series will be assimilated in short order.
