Perhaps, but Clinton’s loss does not persuade me that the current system requires reform or is broken as there were far too many contributing factors to her loss, and we certainly wouldn’t be having this conversation if Clinton won.

There is no point in us discussing this any longer if the thing it hinges upon is Obama should have done it at some date in the past.
There is no possible way for us to have a discussion if that is your expectation.

Or you know, you could change Republican Policy so that it would appeal to more people, including those in the east and west coasts...

GOP policies appeal to more people than democrat policies; especially as democrats move further to the left with their socialist / communist ideology.

What GOP policies appeal to more people than democrats?

Family values
Religion
Firearm rights
Law and order
Abortion
Divorce

For example, most of the Hispanics I work with are GOD fearing people who value family. Most of them vote democrat because they believe the GOP are for the rich. If people would look at GOP polices, they would find we have more in common than different.

Difference between the democrats and the GOP:

GOP morals and values are not for sale.

Democrats have no limits they will stop to to gain voters. Honest truth is a lot of democrat party leaders are hypocrites. They claim they want open borders, yet build a wall around their home - like president obama. Raise taxes to pay for social programs, then protest when taxes are raised on them - Seattle tax on Amazon.

The one thing that keeps generations of people voting democrat is... welfare.

Holy crap, you don't live in reality.

Remind me which party relentlessly defends a President who cheated on all three of his wives, paid for sex with a porn star, bragged about sexual assault and is the epitome of material obsession and greed? That epitome of "family values" and "religion?"

The Republican platform hasn't changed since Reagan: Greed and mean-spirited stupidity.

But back on topic: The EC has been demonstrated to cause harm while providing no benefit.

GOP values not for sale? Yet the religious right made a proverbial deal with the devil and elected a pathological liar who actively goes against at least four of those six areas you mentioned. I'm uncertain of his real views on abortion or firearms rights, but based on his flip flopping and past actions I'd imagine he doesn't give a shit about either of them except when they might provide him with more money or attention.

Even disregarding Trump the GOP is still objectively more corrupt as well as having a hell of a lot more evidence for them being the party that actively tries to subvert elections in various ways.

At this point it's becoming clear that you are actually trolling though. There is no way you could actually believe the things you are saying when they fly in the face of overwhelming evidence. You would have to have almost no ability to analyse facts in order to come to the conclusions you have done.

I would disagree with you on every one of those points.
The US I believe now has more children born out of wedlock than in wedlock and the trend is not changing. The number of children born to single working mothers is also skyrocketing.
The US is increasingly non-religious with the proportion of people who regularly go to church continuing to declining. In addition, births to muslims are outpacing births to christians
Overwhelmingly people want gun control.
People overwhelmingly want accountability with LE and a crackdown on corruption within LE.
Most people think the general status of abortion access is right where it is and American's overwhelmingly do not want to strike down Roe v Wade or limit access to birth control. The GOP birth control policy is abstinence.
I'm not even sure the GOP has a divorce policy.

All of these issues the GOP pushes policies that are not in step with what the average american wants or does by polls and survey data.

. . . we certainly wouldn’t be having this conversation if Clinton won.

The National Popular Vote bill was approved in 2016 by a unanimous bipartisan House committee vote in both Georgia (16 electoral votes) and Missouri (10).

Since 2006, the bill has passed 36 state legislative chambers in 23 rural, small, medium, large, Democratic, Republican and purple states with 261 electoral votes, including one house in Arizona (11), Arkansas (6), Maine (4), Michigan (16), Nevada (6), North Carolina (15), and Oklahoma (7), and both houses in Colorado (9), and New Mexico (5).

Guys, he's getting exactly what he wants. I don't know why you guys keep letting these fucking crybaby bitches come back and respond to them like they haven't consistently just lied and spouted nonsense until people get sick of it and just call them out all the time for it, where they start whining about the liberals and intentionally shitting on every thread they can until something happens that even they can't defend, and then they run off again. This behavior is so consistent that you should know by now to just skip right to calling them out for the full of shit dishonest crazy shitheads they are.

Your comment is part of the overall problem with our current political atmosphere. Maybe you live in a blue area? Maybe a coastal or border county that leans blue?

Whatever the reason, people such as yourself seem to be disconnected from everyday working republicans. These are the people who wake up every morning and go to work in the factories, machine shops, steel mills, coal mines.... people that make your daily life possible.

I am not a crazy sh*t head - my opinion is just different than yours. Rather than having an open and honest discussion you would rather fling feces?

On a personal note, I have a moral objection to cursing, so I was not able to repeat your comment exactly.

Let's hope it never passes. If a popular vote were allowed, the US would become a cesspool.

Elections would be about who could promise the most stuff to the uneducated voting masses.

So why isn’t every state a cesspool, considering they all elect their chief executives by popular vote?

As opposed to it being about who promises the most stuff to the uneducated masses...in 10 swing states. Seriously?

If blue states are an example of what a democracy looks like, the rest of the nation is in trouble. See my above post about california

Don’t go down this road, far more Red States are takers and not givers than blue States.

Just a tip ignore at your own risk

You didn’t answer my question. Every state in the country elects its chief executive through the popular vote and has for centuries. Why aren’t they shitholes?

The day is coming for both red and blue states that voted themselves too much free stuff.

This is the end result of a democracy. People vote themselves all kind of free stuff and then pass the buck down to the next generation. Eventually, someone has to pay.

Well, a lot of the blue states are on their way to going bankrupt.

Even Forbes says California is unsustainable - https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomas...top-four-reasons-california-is-unsustainable/

Eventually places like California will have to pay the piper.

That's an opinion piece, not from the editorial board. Forbes didn't say that.

The Job Creators dumped you & a whole bunch of people just like you. They took their investments & their jobs & sailed off into the sunset. Their version of free stuff is the higher profit they achieved in doing so. And, uhh, they're not coming back, either. Y'all been screwed proper. So you need to do something else to take back what you once had, if only part of it.

What would you suggest, other than bitter rage & bootstraps?

So you're advocating a electoral college created by each state for its governor's races and for senate races as well? Why let the people pick when senators can promise all sorts of free stuff to the uneducated masses? Lets therefore have an EC for each state pick the senator and governor too. Heck why stop there, lets have an EC to pick the EC to pick the EC to pick the final EC that will eventually make the decision that the people were supposed to make in the first place.

Funny how the GOP put out free stuff in the form of tax cuts for the Rich, borrowing the money from rich people to do it. I guess it's not really free. Right wing billionaires had to buy the GOP first... ROI is probably excellent, however.
