New BFG 5900, what size power supply?

I've just recieved from newegg my new BFG 5900 card.
Took out my old TI4400 video card and now i installed the new card and the 53.03 drivers.
Unfortunately, now when i go to play any game, like COD or eve 3dMark, it's all weird video.
2D is fine, but 3D is like there are plain colored polygons running through the video and some white spots
and then the game will crash.
Is this possibly the card? I've already removed all old drivers and have never had an ATI in my computer.
I've got an Antec 350Watt power supply, not the Trupower series though.
I've connected the Molex power to it, but do i need more power maybe?

doubt it. My 5900 worked fine with my 1600xp and a Antec 300 watt ps. I recently upgraded that to a nforce mobo and a 2500xp and had to swap the antec ps for a no name 300watt one from my other computer because the Antec one didn't have the extra motherboard connection. It still works fine.

could be, but i doubt it's your psu. get something like driver cleaner2 and make sure all old drivers are gone. if the problem persists, call BFG's 24/7 toll free tech support line:

Tech support available 24 hours 7 days a week
Toll free: 1-866-BFGFIXX (1-866-234-3499)
Email: support@bfgtech.com

if you find the card needs rma, newegg is usually great about that, should have a repl card for you in a couple days.

let us all know what you find out, and if their support is helpful.

I installed my BFG 5900 NU last night and have no problems at the moment. My system includes:

1. 300 Watt "regular" Antec Power Supply.
2. a DVD Rom
3. a 60 GB WD HD
4. a sound card
5. a TV tuner/caputure card.
6. an Abit mob with AMD 761 chipset and a Duron 900 MHz cpu
7. and 8 fans (2 intake, 1 exhaust, 1 cpu, 1 north bridge (or south?), 2 GPU, and 1 ps fan.

And that's about it. Pretty low power consumption I'd guess (i.e., I don't have 3 HDs, a DVD burner, a CD burner, etc. all sucking juice).

Both my 5800 and my 5900 worked on a 300W Antec PSU, but nVidia recommends at least a 350W PSU.

thanks guys, i confirmed the card was bad today.
Brought it to work with me and installed it into a brand new P4 system and proceeded to run
3dMark03 on it.
It ran fine for the entire thing!
So i thought, i'll run it one more time, the second time running it was the trick. It started
the same symptoms as on my machine. White dots all over and polygon mess.
So i'm RMAing it to newegg as we speak.

I borrowed a Gigabyte 9600XT to use until it gets back, and i gotta say that now i'm falling
in love with this card, doh!

I love the image quality on this Radeon.

thanks again! 🙂
