Wait, so those benchmarks are saying the newest one (8.37.4.3) is much slower than the older 8.37.4.2? Wtf?

And wtf is 4xAAA...doesn't look like it's a typo.....

Well.. to me it isn't a good news at all. It only tells me how crappy the current drivers are. With this news and today's article in AT about CrossFire is nearly killing my intellectual-curiosity about R600. I can handle a little bit low FPS but I can't handle daily driver updates, let alone BSOD, system hang, crash, OS corruption, etc.

But considering how many people use Vista for gaming ... even it it's technically the case, it ain't much relevant, I still believe that NVIDIA should focus their efforts on Windows XP and then move on to Vista.

This may be a bit off topic, but I wish game developers all developed for linux and ati/nvidia had their top drivers for it. I tried Vista and all I could think was "whyyy????"

It was different from XP but not in any noticeable improvement sort of way and in comparison to linux, is clearly not as secure (UAC is like a bastardized version of the linux user-super user). Only compelling reason I find to use it is for DX10, but even then it's not all that compelling. Unfortunately the market will probably force us to Vista :-(

/end off-topic rant

From the looks of it, ATI only had time to optimize the driver for 3DMark, Doom3 engine, and Half-Life 2 engine games. The other games will probably take a while to optimize.

I really do want the 2900 to kick the sh!t out of the 8800GTX. As you can tell from my statement I'm waiving a red flag!!! I do own nvidia this round though..... But it was only cause of the lack of options and the fact that I have a 24incher!!!

Wow! That thing is pumping almost DOUBLE min fps compared to the GTS

So now everyone is suddenly a believer? The few people that have been saying "wait for drivers" have been called ATi fanboys, maybe now youll just shut up... As I said before, its pretty obvious the card has tremendous potential at its pricepoint, and with matured drivers will definitely be a GTS killer, and even trade blows with the GTX, as we can see already

yeah! I don't play oblivion much but It's quite encouraging. I remember that game chewing up my crossfire last year, thinking "this just aint right!"
Looks like I'll be playing it again soon after all.

Very nice stuff...

Higher Minimums always count the most in any bench for me .
