If anyone here is using BeOS then this might be helpful. BeosOnline has released a "new" version of Beos PE 5, you can burn it to a CD and install without Windows, it also has some driver, and OS updates installed. This is being called a "developer edition" it includes newer tools, software, etc. So anyone interested have fun.... I'm still waiting for my download to complete.... I miss broadband.

You've always been able to install the 5.0 PE image outside of Windows. Just burn the BeOS volume image to a CD as an ISO and give it El Dorrito or Torito (or whatever it is that allows you to make a CD bootable) and boot off of it. I'm interested to see what updates they've done though.

I have been able to download from most of the mirrors but none of the images compare to the right checksum values, so I just get coasters when trying to burn them with either Windows or in BeOS Pro. This version thing with Be is starting to get a litlle aggravating too, I'm hopeful that the OBOS will overshadow all the "patched" versions, I mean right there are these if not more that I forgot.

5.0.4 Developers Edition

BeOS is starting to look like all the Linux distributions out there, it would be nice to see Palm continue support of Be and release ver 6.0 IMO.

Neither the ATA100 nor the AMD XP patches are included. I still get kernel panics. :(
